Frequently Asked Questions

Are these issues specific to Northcote Road?

Sadly, no.  Most of the issues and concerns we have for Northcote Road are recognised by towns up and down the country and there is surge of action coming from many quarters.

Nick Hurd, MP for Ruislip-Northwood and son of Douglas, is championing the private member's Sustainable Communities Bill and taking it through Parliament.

The issues are constantly featured in the national media and London's Evening Standard has initiated a media campaign called 'Save Our Small Shops', frequently reporting on areas of London such as Northcote Road, Lambs Conduit Street or Marylebone High Street, bringing these issues to a wider audience.

There are a number of websites such as www.localworks.org backing the Sustainable Communities Bill and dedicated to campaigning and lobbying the government to give independent retailers and businesses more muscle and prevent our shopping streets turning into clone streets.
